BenQ will form a new company for the mobile phone unit which it acquired from Siemens recently, and it will establish headquarters for the Asian region in Taipei at the end of August. The partnership Siemens had set up with the mainland maker Bird will be reevaluated. The partnership involved Bird helping Siemens sell its mobile phones on the Chinese market, while Bird was allowed to use some of Siemens' patents. As sales figures for Siemens' mobile phones in China have not been as high as forecasted, BenQ is considering ending the partnership.
